While we have a few main projects, we try to contribute to as many causes in the community as possible.
Main Projects
We commit most of our time and effort to the below projects. Money raised from these events helps support our donations throughout the community.
Flying Flags
You may have seen the flags lining the streets of Hayfield and Brownsdale.
The SAL fund raises by charging $25 a year to put a flag up on your lawn/property for four holidays a year (Memorial Day, Flag Day, July 4th, and Labor Day).
Liver and Onions
Another crowd favorite.
We serve up a hearty liver, onions, and fresh corn dinner in early November. Come early before we run out.
Bingo
Three months out of the year, we volunteer to help run the weekly bingo night on Thursdays at the Legion.
Other Efforts
We’ve also helped out with various other efforts around the area:
- Donate flags and labor to Hayfield’s annual Field of Flags
- Annual maintenance of the “SAL Baseball Field”
- Two $500 scholarships to Hayfield High School seniors
- Donations to the Legion for big repairs and new equipment
- Donations to Hayfield community schools
- Donations to support the outdoor ice rink in Hayfield
- Donations to the annual cancer telethon
- Donations to the local Share Christmas fund
